Origin of the Marlar name? Empty Origin of the Marlar name?

My name is Tommie Marlar from Texas. The earliest record of this name is Willelmus Marlar of Wortley in 1379. I know that Marl is a mineral but does anyone have a theory as to what his involvement with this mineral might have been in 1379.
