I have found out that my gg grandparents John and Mary Ann Davis (nee Bacchus) died in Barnsley workhouse around the 1880's. I don't seem to be able to find out any info on inmates there, when they died, why they were in there etc. i do think they got married at the parish church, Sheffield in 1856. My ggg grandfather was baptized at St. Mary's 19 Feb 1817. His name was George Wood, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Wood. He and his wife, Hannah Hilton Wood were married, I think in 1835 at St. George's...but I'm not sure. Does anyone have access to St. George or St. Mary's records?
