New BFHS Forum Site
Good morning Laura,
Thank you for your comments. I can assure you that not all the users of the site have been so complimentary.
I have read your appeal for information, and hope that you receive the help that you desire.
When the New Forum was set up, it was decided not to add the old messages, owing to the spam and worse which had been sent to the site. Many users did not approve, whilst some were even very insulting.
The Forum has been left to its members for their own use, without any interference from me or anyone else.
I hope that you will find it to be what you require, and that you are able to get some long-term benefits from it.
If you would like your appeal for information to be put in the Journal, please send it on to me, (I am also Journal Editor) by email, at editor@barnsleyfhs.co.uk and I will ensure that it appears in the October edition.
Best Wishes
Tom

ANNOUNCEMENT: NEW BFHS FORUM SITE!
The new Barnsley Family History website is now back online, and the Committee hope that you will find the site interesting in content and more easy to navigate than previously. Of course, a great deal remains to be done, and new sections will be added as, and when, they are available.
We have also found it necessary to remove the old Forum from the site. This had served the Society's members faithfully for a number of years, but of late, had become riddled with pornography and other such disgusting material, which were extremely difficult to control. Now we have the new site it will mean, of course, that everyone interested to join in will have to re-register. The new additions will be regularly checked and where there is any doubt about the validity of the registration, membership will be withdrawn immediately, and re-entry to the site will be banned! Any member who comes across offensive or crude messages is asked to contact me immediately, and I will take action to remove the offending message/member.
If you need to contact me at all, please do so at webmaster@barnsleyfhs.co.uk .
